Stuart Bell – Director / Lawyer

Recognizing that the Whitsundays was on the cusp of its first major property boom in decades, and with dual degrees in Economics and Law, Stuart launched Property Development Law in 1996.  This was a boutique firm and Stuart dedicated himself to offering a niche service to the emerging market.

Shortly afterward, Stuart co-founded Powerup Project Reticulation, an underground power reticulation service for developers and statutory authorities, which expanded to installing fibre for NBN Co.  As anticipated, his involvement in Powerup proved a powerful complement to PD Law as it has afforded an insight into civil construction which allows Stuart a far greater – and extremely valuable – understanding of the process (and pitfalls) of property development. PD Law offers more to a project consultancy team than most other traditional legal services.

In 2012 the boutique legal service incorporated and re-badged to PD Law. Stuart is a director and part owner and he feels the way PD LAW manage their business and offer their services has undergone massive, exciting change, due in large part to its new management structure. Stuart believes it’s been challenging to break away from a traditional legal service model, and, a bit like exercise, once you start out on redesigning the way you do business, it’s addictive and rewarding and you don’t want to stop.

I’m really proud of how we’ve created a Statewide presence and an international client base by embracing technology, portability, and the true nature of the knowledge worker.  I still think of PD LAW as a small operation but the reality is that we have grown substantially and rapidly, while maintaining the authentic DNA of the place; it’s our way of operating that enables us to adapt so quickly.

Stuart’s clients know he enjoys what he does!
